Eleanor Bull

Eleanor Bull (* ~ 1550; † 1596) was a daughter of James Bull and Sybil Whitney. Through her mother, she may have been related to Blanche Parry, one of Elizabeth I’s most influential ladies-in-waiting and cousin of William Cecil. Anyway, Blanche Parry bequeathed her £100. In 1571 she married Richard Bull, a court clerk. After his death in 1590, she received official permission to offer board and lodging to guests in her house on Deptford Strand in Deptford – similar to today’s Bed & Breakfast – for a fee. Eleanor Bull died in March 1596 and was buried in Deptford.1
